Sculptor Simon Kaplan works primarily in wood carving, gilding and painting, and has extensive training in this medium, including a specialty in the art of Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, where he has studied, exhibited, and sold his work. He is inspired by poetry, architecture, and aboriginal and folk art, treating these “influences as a living tradition,” and infusing them with “modern meaning and functionality.”
