Originally from Riga, Latvia, Max now splits his time between New York and St. Thomas USVI. He studied classical painting techniques from an early age at the Art Academy of Latvia and with renown Latvian painters Raljs Jansons and Anita Meldere. Since arriving in the United States, Max attended Massachusetts College of Art, and graduated from School of Visual Arts. He draws his inspiration from works of the great American impressionists and European masters. The pieces at exhibition explore the techniques, compositions, and palettes during his imaginary dialogues with Titian, Vermeer, Rembrandt, and other giants.
